When a gunman opened fire on a mosque in northern Minnesota, police say they used deadly force


WASHINGTON — A gunman opened fired Sunday on a Minneapolis mosque and killed five people and wounded at least 20 others, authorities said.

Police say the gunman opened fires on a house at the Islamic Center of St. Paul at about 10:40 a.m.

CST before police opened fire to subdue him.

Authorities say five people were shot.

The wounded included a woman who died at the scene.

Police said the man was killed by a police officer.

The woman was transported to a hospital and is in stable condition.

No one else was hurt.

Police said there was no immediate word on the motive for the shooting.
